6th GRADE
The 6th grade band will be performing at the 2010 District One Large Group Performance Evaluation. This will be held on March 11th in the Fine Arts Hall at Armstrong Atlantic State University. The students will meet at the Richmond Hill Middle band room school at 4:30 pm on March 11th. We will then load up on buses and travel together to AASU. Once at AASU the students will have a brief warm-up period before taking the main concert stage to perform at 6pm. All parents are invited and encouraged to attend this concert. If you can not make the concert, we will be taking the students back to the Richmond Hill Middle School band room at the end. You can pick up your student at the band room at 7:10pm. If you would like to take your student directly from AASU either Dr. Warnock or Mrs. Bowden will need a letter which shows that you will be responsible for your student’s trip home. We will also need to see you in person before we release your student.
Students will need to wear their uniform: sixth grade band shirt, black pants or long skirt, black socks, black belt, and black shoes. If you have any further questions, please contact Mrs. Bowden (abowden@bryan.k12.ga.us) or Dr. Warnock (ewarnock@bryan.k12.ga.us).
The Sixth Grade Band is currently learning how to sit with correct posture, breath correctly to play an instrument, and the proper embouchure for their instrument. Students should be practicing posture, breah support, and emboushure at home. Students should be concentrating on the sheet music that has been passed out for the LGPE concert in March. Remember, practice charts are due every Tuesday! The book that sixth grade band uses is "Standard of Excellence - Book 1". If you have not gotten your instrument and/or books yet, these both can be obtained at Portman's Music in Savannah, GA. You can also click the image below to be taken directly to amazon.com to order the book.
Tuba and Baritone players only need to purchase a mouthpiece. Please see the directors to get the information on which moutpieces would work best.
