Wildcat Winds Parents and Students,
Below is a copy of the email sent to Dr. Warnock from Dr. Hoyt LeCroy. Doc wanted you to see it. You should be proud of your performance and how your represented yourselves, your music program, your school, and your community. You made an impression!
Dear Dr. Warnock and members of Wildcat Winds:
Congratulations on your outstanding performance at last week's inservice conference of Georgia
Music Educators Association! It is among the highest of honors for a band to serve as a model for
music educators from the state of Georgia.
As one of your guest conductors, I was honored to have the opportunity to observe your dedication
in rehearsal. Your polished performance on stage was made possible by long hours of devotion to
the cause of excellence.
I know that you have more achievements ahead during this academic year. My very best wishes are
extended as you ascend to new heights.
As you perform, never forget that your music inspires people whom you will never meet. You bring hope
to the world.
Congratulations to each of you, and thank you for allowing me to be a part of your memorable performance
at GMEA 2011 !

It is so good to read this.
ReplyDeleteI was Dr. LeCroy's last percussion student. In February of 2011 (when this was posted), I was in my second semester at Piedmont College as a student of Dr. LeCroy. Dr. LeCroy passed away a little under three years after this (November 4, 2013).
Every now and then, I search the internet to see if I can find some of his writings. I often find personal emails such as this, and it reminds me of the warm spirit Dr. LeCroy had. I miss him very much, and I am always glad to read things like this from him.
Thank you.
