Band Parents and Students, This is to remind you that your cookie dough order forms and money were due Nov 15th (Monday). With the orders that came in today we have met half of our fundraising goal. If you did not turn in your order form, please do so tomorrow. If you are not interested in selling cookie dough but would like to help us reach our goal to meet our expenses for the Large Group Performance Evaluations we are accepting donations. Just put your check (made out to RHWBB) or cash in an envelope and mark it "Donation". Thank you, Kiersten Scooler |
Sorry Parents, I didn't realize I missed including the date of the meeting in the body of the email. It was in the Oct. minutes attachment, but I got ahead of myself. The meeting is TONIGHT at 7p.m. in the cafeteria. The Wildcat Winds will play and must report to the bandroom by 6:30p.m. Attached to this email is the Basketball schedule. If you have a student in the Pep/Jazz Band you will want to look at this. Kiersten |
Attention parents, In addition to the practices that normally happen after school, there are some other happenings. First, there is a Band Booster meeting in the cafeteria at 7p.m. The Wildcat Winds will be performing at this meeting. If you have a student in Winds, please have them in the band room in white shirt/black pants &shoes by 6:30. There still will be Winds practice after school until 5. This is the final week of cookie dough sales. All forms will be collected on Monday, Nov. 15th. Uniforms for the Winds students should begin arriving tomorrow. We will distribute them as they arrive. There are currently 13 vests on back order. That is all for now. We hope to see all of you at the meeting. The Booster Board Nov 5, 2010 |
Hello RHMS Band Parents- Our Cookie Dough Sale is finally underway! Good Luck selling. Now the even better part- we need to make final plans to receive the student orders on Nov. 15th and again for delivery of the cookie dough on Dec. 8th. Any help is appreciated. Please call or email us with your availability. We need some help on Monday, Nov. 15th at the end of the school day. ( Around 5 parents would be ideal) Let us know if you are available, and then please plan to meet in the Band Room after school. We will need to sort orders by grade, open envelopes and verify that payments are included for each order. Any orders turned in earlier will already have been entered into the Great American POS ordering site in advance. Last, we need to enter the orders received on the 15th into the Great American POS web site to place our final order. Most likely the web work will be done by me that evening from my home. I imagine the sorting and opening of orders will take about an hour or two at the most. On Wednesday, Dec. 8th the order will arrive "sometime" that morning ( I love specific information, don't you?) I will place a call to any available volunteers as soon as the order comes in. If you can be "on call" to help sort please let me know and send me your best contact phone number. We will need to assemble in the Lunch Room after lunch time is over ( around 1:30 pm) to sort the orders by grade. Pick-up will take place from 3-5:30 pm. With that said, if you can only help at the student /parent pick-up please plan to meet in the Lunch Room by 2:30 pm- we must finish deliveries/clean-up by 5:45 pm. Ideally, we will have 2 parents per grade to check off and hand off the orders. The orders are supposed to come in pre-grouped by seller to make our distribution part easier. Please email me at rjglassco@aol.com or call my cell at 344-8874 if you have questions. Thanks, Cyndy Glasscock Parent Volunteer Nov 4, 2010 |
Parents, Your student will be coming home today with the order forms for our cookie dough sale. Please ask your student for theirs. Participation is voluntary, but the funds we raise are so necessary. Just so you know. The state of GA does not fund music education in our state. The Bryan Co. Board of Education provides the funds in their budget for music teachers' salaries with little left for purchasing instruments, stands, music scores, etc. We are lucky to have the support of Ms. Herndon who finds a way to help where she can and is very supportive of our fundraising efforts. This is where the Cookie Dough Sale comes in. Every year Dr. Warnock takes all 3 grade level bands to the Large Group Performance Evaluations sponsored by the Georgia Music Educators Association in the spring. The school donates the transportation. We must come up with the entrance fees and the money to cover the purchase of participation medals for every student. This fundraiser pays for this event. All the leftover monies are put back into the band program by purchasing instruments, stands, music, etc. Our children gain so much when they watch other bands play and can perform in a more public venue themselves. They have always made us proud with their performance and their conduct. I hope you will decide to support our fundraising efforts. A parent reminded me that donations directly to the band program are just as good. We would appreciate either. Thank you, The Band Boosters Date: Nov 3, 2011 |
Don't worry, this is great news! I have arranged with Ms. Herndon that the Wildcat Winds will have 3 Hat Day fundraisers at school before the Atlanta trip in the spring. Our first Hat Day is Nov 19, the last day of school before Thanksgiving. The next two will be in Jan and Feb. Do any of your families have small stickers you can donate to the Winds? We need to assemble a zip lock baggie with stickers for each homeroom class at the MS. The students who pay $1 to wear a hat will put the sticker on their hat to show they supported Hat Day with a donation. I would also like to get a group of volunteers together on Monday Nov. 15 at 10 a.m. to assemble the baggies. If you can donate your time or supplies that would be greatly appreciated. Hat Days generate about $300 a shot for very little invested on our part. Please support this fundraising effort. It will make a difference in the cost of the Atlanta Trip. Thank you, Kiersten |
Oct 25, 20101. I wanted to let you know that I would like to cancel the Saturday, November 13th rehearsal. Being that it’s a long weekend, the guest conductor doesn’t feel he needs to rehearse his piece, and also students are being reunited with returning military parents, I think we should just cancel it.2. So, I would like to have a rehearsal on Friday, November 19th, from 3:00 until 5:00. Maybe we could have pizza and soda/or water for the kids. It would give us a little more practice before the long Thanksgiving break. (We would also have our regular Tuesday and Thursday rehearsals that week.)3. I would like to have the wildcat winds perform on the booster meeting, Tuesday, November 9th. We have our bagpiper guest soloist coming down that day from Milledgeville, GA to rehearse with the band. This is a good opportunity to try and perform this piece and others early on so we can become better prepared for January. Thanks,Emery
